History

The Agrotechnology Study Program (abbreviated as Agrotech Study Program) which was founded in August 2009 is a study program formed from the merger of three study programs, namely Agronomy, Soil Science, and Plant Pests and Diseases. This study program was formed in accordance with the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) Number 163/DIKTI/Kep/2007 dated 29 November 2007 concerning Structuring and Codification of Study Programs in Higher Education which streamlined several study programs in the Faculty of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Forestry. This decision letter stipulates that the names of study programs at universities must match the names of their study programs. The study programs previously named Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Landscape Architecture, Agricultural Cultivation, Soil Science, and Plant Pests and Diseases were adjusted to the name of the new study program to Agrotechnology/Agroecotechnology.

Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 163/DIKTI/Kep/2007, Hasanuddin University began implementing this decision by establishing the Agrotechnology Study Program by combining three previously existing study programs, namely Agricultural Cultivation, Soil Science, and Plant Pests and Diseases. The Agrotechnology Study Program is managed by three departments, namely Agricultural Cultivation, Soil Science, and Plant Pests and Diseases. This study program began accepting new students in the 2009/2010 academic year.

The Agrotechnology Study Program is currently managed by the Department of Agricultural Cultivation in accordance with the Decree of the Chancellor of Hasanuddin University Number 02162/UN4.1/KEP/2023 dated March 1 2023 concerning the Transfer of Management of the Undergraduate Agrotechnology Study Program (S1) to the Department of Agricultural Cultivation. This transfer of management occurred due to the reactivation of the Soil Science Study Program and the Plant Protection Study Program. Since 2021, the two study programs which were originally part of the Agrotechnology Study Program have been formed into new study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University.
