Welcome to the official website of the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University. We are proud to be able to introduce the Agrotechnology Study Program which is dedicated to producing graduates who are competent and have integrity in the field of agriculture. Agrotechnology is the applied science of agronomy or plant production technology. The local uniqueness of the Agrotechnology Study Program is that it is sustainable agriculture based on the Indonesian Maritime Continent. The Agrotechnology Study Program was formed based on agronomy and its branches such as horticulture, plant breeding, tissue culture and biotechnology, agroclimatology, landscape/garden architecture, food crops, plantation crops, plant pests and diseases, soil science, and others.

Agrotechnology Study Program

The Agrotechnology Study Program (abbreviated as Agrotech Study Program) which was founded in August 2009 is a study program formed from the merger of three study programs, namely Agronomy, Soil Science, and Plant Pests and Diseases. This study program was formed in accordance with the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti)

  1. Organizing agrotechnology education that is oriented towards environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture.
    Carrying out research oriented towards the development of appropriate technology through scientific publications that can be disseminated to the public.
    Establishing sustainable partnership cooperation with stakeholders.
    Producing competent and professional graduates who can provide solutions to agricultural problems, are leaders, academics, researchers, managers and entrepreneurs.
  1. Increase competence in the learning process, mastery and scientific understanding of learning outcomes, especially regarding agricultural cultivation technology that is environmentally friendly and sustainable.
    Producing graduates who have high competitiveness and integrity as professionals who are able to design, develop and apply agricultural systems that are environmentally sound and sustainable.
    Producing professional staff who are able to apply their knowledge by prioritizing noble morals in their actions and upholding the value of local wisdom.
  1. Agroclimatology and statistics (modelling, climate)
    Food crops (eg rice, corn, beans, tubers, alternative foods, sorghum and wheat)
    Plantation crops (eg cocoa, cloves, nutmeg, oil palm, sugar cane, cotton
    Horticultural crops/fruits and vegetables (eg melons, chilies, onions, mangoes)
    Plant and seed breeding (variety testing, crossing, vegetative breeding)
    Plant tissue isolation method
    Biotechnology and plant reproduction (DNA, molecular)
    Biofertilizer and food mushrooms
    Landscape (planning, design/design and management of landscapes/gardens/green open spaces, landscape plants)
  • Educator: Graduates who are able to learn throughout life, think analytically and synthesize by taking into account the impact of solving problems on a global scale in social life, act as facilitators, motivators, mediators systematically, effectively, and are able to apply professional ethics in the field of agriculture that is environmentally friendly .
  • Researcher: Graduates who have the ability to identify, analyze, formulate and solve problems appropriately regarding sustainable agricultural cultivation systems, and can then design and carry out research and interpret data professionally.
  • Agricultural Technicians Graduates who can apply science and technology in the field of agriculture with ecological considerations based on the principles of sustainable agriculture both in a modern way and using local wisdom and are able to communicate to meet community needs in designing agricultural development.
  • Managers in the agricultural sector (Farm managers): Graduates who are able to plan and design crop production systems effectively and productively, as well as carry out crop production system planning according to sustainable agricultural principles, can also actualize their potential to work together in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Agricultural Entrepreneurs: Graduates who apply environmentally sound agricultural business ethics and innovate in applying science and technology in the field of agricultural cultivation into business practices.
